Hockey Numbers talks Lightning lessons, Alex Edler’s amazing season and the Canucks’ underrated second line

Vancouver Canucks v Toronto Maple LeafsThe Lightning are quite the team.

As Steve Ewen and Patrick Johnston discussed on this week’s Casual Tuesdays with Steve, they’ve found some very fine talent.

This week’s Hockey Numbers carries on with the theme. Thomas Drance sees some straightforward lessons in how the Lightning assembled their team. There are also lessons in how the Panthers have assembled their team too.

As for the Canucks – do people really understand how good Alex Edler and Chris Tanev have been? It’s not just that the internal competition isn’t challenging, it’s also that they’ve been as good as you can hope for.

Finally, a thought or two for Chris Higgins and Nick Bonino, who, believe it or not have cases in both their favours for being the Canucks’ best forwards of late. It’s a bit shocking, and it’s only when you think about what Thomas is telling Patrick Johnston that you’ll realize what it all means.
