Montreal musician Socalled has been exploring Yiddish melodies and klezmer music from a hip hop head’s perspective since dropping his 2005 debut So Called Seder: A Hip Hop Haggadah. His latest album, titled Peoplewatching, finds the producer rapping more and ‹ perhaps ‹ sticking closer to old skool song structures. He discusses the new album, making music and previews a few tracks.
Also hot gigs of the week profiles Ester Rada, Girlpool, Young Fathers and fave releases too.
